HAPPY FEBRUARY!

February 2, 2018

HAPPY FEBRUARY!

We here at ARSS hope that everyone is starting the descend from the ‘"Deep Freeze"!! As part of my own "pay it forward" quest, I will be personally donating an Ancestry DNA kit, in celebration of my birthday and adoption in February! So please keep up on our Facebook page this month!

And here’s what I ask of you, whether an adoptee, adoptive parent, birthparent, grandparent, stepparent, sibling, please consider making a gift as little or as much as you’d like. Five bucks is enough if many of us do it!

Our February blog will feature “Love” in all its glory in our world of adoption. If anyone would like us to feature a blog you’d like to write or an issue you’d like for us to explore, please send any requests to angelquest@adoptionrss.org.

We hope you will read our monthly news, and come back often to our websiteand Facebook page.

-Cathy Thompson, ARSS Founder

Congratulations to our very first “Giving Genes” Giveaway winner, Kyla. This was a huge success and we appreciate everyone’s participation. Thank you to the generous members who "paid it forward" and made this giveaway possible. Stay tuned on our Facebook page for our next "Giving Genes" Giveaway!

Interested in Sharing Your Story?

We welcome anyone who would like to share their own story of adoption, through your own words. Please let us know,  and we will feature your story. Everyone’s story is important, and every story has something to offer for everyone. It is also a very cathartic way of expressing your fears, your search questions, or your approach to a new journey.

NEWS & UPDATES

December was a great month for New York. Thank you to the many members who signed the ‘Adoption Discrimination Bill’ petition - launched by Tim Monti-Wholpart who brought this to our attention. The new “clean” bill introduced by Senator Tony Avella, the Bill of Adoptee Rights. Now with all of our help and our voices, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo vetoed the A5036-B/S4845-B bill. Governor Cuomo stated that he supports “greater access to birth records” and has called for a workgroup to help chart a path forward. We need to keep growing this petition. Please go to change.org to sign it.
